Use of Your Personal Information
When you log in to www.microcal.com, we use your e-mail address and password to validate that you are a registered user and:

- To deliver services, such as application notes, newsletters, events, training or manuals that you request
- To help us create and publish content most relevant to you
- To alert you to product upgrades, special offers, updated information and other new services from MicroCal

When you register on the website MicroCal will not share that information with third parties without your permission, other than for the limited exceptions already listed. It will only be used for the purposes stated above. Registering also allows you to tell us how or whether you want MicroCal to communicate with you. MicroCal may send out periodic e-mails informing you of new products, updated schedules of events or technical service issues related to a product. In each e-mail, we will give you the opportunity to "opt out" of receiving future direct e-mails containing marketing or market research information. This means if we send you e-mails you will have the opportunity to confirm that you no longer wish to receive e-mails. Use of Cookies
When you visit microcal.com, a cookie is placed on your computer (if your computer’s settings permit accepting cookies) or is read if you have visited the site previously and registered at that time. A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user. Usage of a cookie is not linked to any personal information on our site and once you close the user browser, it simply terminates. One use of cookies is to assist in the collection of the site visitation statistics described above. This is a tool we use to compile aggregated statistics about microcal.com web site usage. MicroCal takes your security seriously and takes reasonable steps to protect your information. MicroCal continues to evaluate and implement enhancements in security technology and practices; however we can only take steps to help reduce the risks of unauthorized access. MicroCal maintains reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect personal information about you. MicroCal limits access to personal information about you to those employees who we reasonably believe need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs.
Processing payments (For Symposia Registration Only)
If you use the MicroCal website for online registration for scientific symposia, to process your online payment of any registration fee, we may provide your personal information to appropriate financial institutions for completion of the registration fee payment transaction. You will be notified electronically by MicroCal when the payment transaction has been completed. For financial institutions and processors, the use of personally identifiable consumer information is governed by federal and state privacy laws.
Changes to this Policy
MicroCal will occasionally update this privacy statement. When we do, we will also revise the "last updated" date at the top of the privacy statement. For changes to this statement that alter the protections that the current version of the Privacy Statement gives you, MicroCal will notify you by placing prominent notice on the website.
Additional Information
MicroCal also collects certain information about your computer hardware and software. This information may include: your IP address, browser type, operating system, domain name, access times and referring Web site addresses. This information is used for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of microcal.com. MicroCal also collects information about which pages our customers visit within microcal.com. Site visitation data is identified only by a unique ID number, and it is never linked with personal information unless a user consents as described in this privacy statement.
Enforcement
MicroCal is committed to making individual or systemic changes, as may be required, to correct complaints from anyone who has registered at our website about the manner in which we use his or her information.
